ATLANTIDE HARDCORE D.I.Y.

Leafing through 14 years of Atlantides existence between photos, flyers and articles written by those who were there and those who played there.

The shows were noisy and packed, the lights would constantly blow because the electric system was overloaded, it was hard to squeeze into the concert room, and often it was impossible to see who was on stage (what stage?). It was like falling into the eye of a vortex, being sucked into a wave and turned

upside down inside layers of bodies. The crowd tried to protect the bands from all that energy but didnt always succeed. It wasnt a problem: everyone was smiling and sweating, landing on someone elses feet, jumping and hugging to stop whoever had fallen on you also hitting the ground, all floating together in a sea of heads and legs.

Bologna, March 30, 2001. The NullaOsta collective organises its first show at Atlantide Occupata, a 70 square metres keep in downtown Bologna.

Squatted in 1997 and self-managed by the lesbo-feminist collective Clitoristrix, the Antagonismogay group/Smaschieramenti Laboratory and the NullaOsta collective, Atlantide was a fertile field for grassroots critical analysis, promoting freedom and self-determination for women, political (self-)organisation and visibility for feminists and LGBTIQ, DIY and independently disseminated cultural contributions.

Atlantide becomes a worldwide landmark for DIY punk hardcore.

It was evicted on 9 October 2015.

This book documents 14 years of Atlantides existence.
