This recording of 20 of the 66 lyrical pieces by Edvard Grieg, which the Russian keyboard grandmaster Emil Gilelsrecorded in 1972, can undoubtedly be regarded as a milestone in piano history. Although Grieg’s lyrical pieces havea reputation for being manageable even for amateurs, the dynamic and colorful richness of nuance that Gilelsbrings to the compositions is certainly in a league of its own.
